Did you know that Marvel Comic hero Spider-Man had a Tokusatsu series developed in 1978? And that it was produced by Toei, who would later produce Super Sentai next year in 1979? Well, now you know.

Anyway, I came to tell you about this show. I won't spoil much, but I will say that after watching the first episode, it's awesome! Plus, I'll just say that the overall story doesn't have anything to do with original. Anyway, it had a major impact on Toku. In fact, it's because of this show that Super Sentai has giant robots. Well anyway, if you're a fan of Spider-Man and/or a fan of Toku, I say give it a try. All of the episodes are subbed, and are streaming on Marvel's official site. You can find them here!

And, here's the opening.

I remember seeing that a while ago. I think it looks pretty funny.

Not region locked. That's a pleasant surprise, I thought there'd be licensing issues and it would be US only. :)

I have only seen the American Spider-Man, not the Japanese version.

And Unlimited was cancelled on a cliffhanger. It's annoying when shows end like that. the previous Spider-Man show that was on Fox Kids was great, as was the X-Men series shown in the same era. Any of you guys been watching the toku? It's free.

I remember seeing this before and while I cannot speak for the Toku in its entirety, the song is pretty catchy and yeah, if our Spidey had a giant mecha like that, I am sure Green Goblin and Doc Ock would have run scared.
