Chemical elements. Thorium, selenium, hydrogenium, oxygenium and so on. That would be 118 rangers or more, if you're including isotopes....
EDIT: the physics arXiv blog Blog Archive First superheavy element found in nature would mean that we have something like a super ranger as well.

Meteorology. A nimbus ranger, a cirrus ranger, a thunder ranger, a sky ranger, and so on.

Circus Performer Rangers! Just think - Disney would have to bend their "no more transgendered Rangers" rule... well if they included a bearded woman at least lol

Well, for th water theme might not be weird if they have the theme based on the big fish (the sharks as there is a a few types of sharks, killer whale, dolphin and probably use the big humpback whale as a carrierzord) or the water theme could be based on certain boats and ships.

Have a theme based on planets isn't weird. That is a theme that Toei hasn't done yet...we had a planet theme rumor before knowing it was Gekiranger which was a beast theme. For the planet theme, the rangers wouldn't be from those planets but they would get their powers from those planets.

I think Plant Rangers would be strange... "Tree, Hedge, Shrub, Flower, Weed."
-or Appliance Rangers, "Toaster, Fridge, TV, Oven, Microwave."
-or Shoe Rangers "Boots, Sneakers, High Heels, Flip Flops, Sandals."

I'd actually like to see Bird Rangers... They've had so many animal teams, and now a cat team, why not a bird team?

What about Power Rangers Rasta! All the rangers would be using Jamaican and Rastafarian accent and dialogue. "Bumbacloth" ; "I mon"; "Jaw mon, rastafari!". Their helmets will have rasta hair on them. Picture this, a ranger is taunted by a beef monster in a fight (rastas don't eat meat, for those who don't know); the ranger is struck around his right eye. He yells out: "Leff I mon!"* and the monster strikes him by his left eye this time. LOL I know I know a lot of nonsense. :-p
