All signs point to the fact there were indeed Power Rangers beforehand. I'm thinking it's more of a nod to the Sentai counterpart that has been around years prior to MMPR showing up.

But hints have been dropped the MMPR were not the first.

ok the answer is the alein rangers cuz if you watch ep 500 legacy of the power in tommys video diary when he talks bout the original 5 he says they became earths first power rangers

It's a confusing question actually. I mean when Kim travled back in time Zordon of that time had chosen the first set of power rangers. Yet when you look at everything the MMPR one's seem to be the first. Yeah i am confused.

Unless more information about past seasons is mentioned by future series's or by the producers of PR, etc, etc (Which I highly doubt in the near future) the answers and conclusions we come to are purely opinionated. Most of them educated opinions I hope. lol
