| Lord of Thunder | The PS3 hard drives are upgradeable and do not void your warranty if you upgrade them. You can find some really cheap ones at newegg.com or even Ebay. So if he doesn't have a need for wi-fi or the memory card reader (which you can buy cheap seperately anyways and still use), then the 20GB is a good way to go. |

It's tough for me, once I move out in about a month my friend and I are going to split the price between us for a PS3. I've always liked Sony more, and although they lack a strong amount of highly rated games as compared to the 360, they still have the Bluray player. I own a 360 and I really like it. Not only does it house most of the preferably played games. But it also comes at an affordable price. $400 for 120gigs as compared to $400 for 40gigs is a hard offer to pass up. But I have reasoning to defend the PS3 in this aspect as well. Although it may be 1/3 less memory, who even really needs 120gigs? Not only that but Sony has placed the ability of upgrading your Hard Drive on your own, in your hands. Which is a lot more appealing than Microsoft's 120 in my opinion. The thing that made me choose my 360 was the fact that although people believed the PS3's graphics were superior, a wide range of games had more crisp graphics and better lighting. Not to say that the PS3 doesn't hold it's own with stunning games like 'Heavenly Sword'. There are many exclusive titles that I'm sad I missed out on because of my decision, I can always get them when I buy a PS3. But sadly my favor goes to the XBOX 360. The year that it had before the PS3 allowed developers some much needed time to understand the system. And because of that the 360 will always be one step ahead, even if it is a minuscule one. |

| Lord of Thunder | When it comes to price though, some of it is offset between systems. However if you try to compare the 2, the PS3 40GB is still the cheapest. As is the 80Gb PS3, even compared to the 120GB Xbox 360. The 120GB Xbox 360 is $450. BUT unlike the 360 you can use any laptop hard drive on the PS3 and it does not void your warranty. So let's do a quick comparison. This comparison will make the 360 and PS3 as close as possible in terms of features. We will use the Xbox 360 20GB version as thats the cheapest Xbox 360 with hard drive which retails for $349. We will also use the cheaest PS3 which retails at $400. Wifi: It's built into the 40GB PS3. It's an optional $99 attachment for the 360. Online: It's free with the PS3. $50 a year for the 360. So currently to get the Xbox 360 up to PS3 feature standards you would need to spend about another $150 to do it. Thus putting the Xbox 360 20GB up to the $500 price range just to have comparable 40GB PS3 features. And you are still getting 20GB's less. This does not yet include a high definition drive add-on like Blu-Ray yet. And if Microsoft does come out with one, plan on tacking on another $150-$200 at least. The Xbox 360 has a much higher failure rate, is much more expensive than the PS3 if you try to get it to comparable PS3 features, AND when you look at the number of high rated games versus low rated (against how many games are available for each system)...the PS3 again wins. Graphically, the PS3 version of GTA4 has gotten generally better reviews than the 360 version. Overall actually too. The general trend is that games started on the PS3 look better than those on the 360. The PS3 is also DIVX certified. You can use DIVX offline. Whereas with the 360 you need to be hooked up to the net to use it. Motorstorm 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Socom, Metal Gear, and more are all coming this year and are PS3 exclusive. No doubt the PS3 has it going on this year in games. The video download service and in-game XMB are all coming in the next few months as well. It will feature movies and such that Microsoft cannot touch. And barring another delay, HOME launches this fall too. And let's not forget the incredible interaction between the PSP and PS3 that not even Nintendo can touch. When you sit down and do the math, the PS3 is still the best deal around. And on many more levels. |

| Lord of Thunder | Outside of the insane failure rates and disc scratchng I have nothing against the 360. I myself had one. But I've been much happier with the PS3. It's been cheaper and just as fun if not more so. And it's quiet. Damn quiet. It's not like the 360 that sounds like a jet getting ready to launch. |
