| Bud Bundy Is My Hero | I just wanted to know, what are the risks of dying etc. when cutting your wrists? It sounds like a stupid question, but I'll explain why I'm asking. The other day, I was walking down a street and this guy picked up a piece of glass and started cutting (from what I could tell) pretty deep three time across his arm. The blood was pouring but not spurting out. I dialled 999 and the ambulance and police got there, and took over, but it was a terrifying ordeal, watching him cut himself, I don't see how people can bring themselves to do it. So, what are the chances of him surviving (I never found out what happened to him) and in general, what are the risks when people cut their wrists? |

| Sure you can. Everyone who doesn't do things the American way is doing those things wrong. A random piece of glass? I would think glass shards and/or tetanus could be a risk. |

| I think if he hit a main vein it could cost him more then just some blood. I've heard of cases that slit their wrist and die from it. And to answer why some do it it's the whole it's another pain thing. It's like ok i have this pain and i don't want to deal with it so i'll give myself another pain to deal with. |

| Cutting your wrists isn't an automatic death sentence (trust me, I speak from experience). First off, it depends on how deep the glass managed to go and if he hit at least one vein. Also it depends on how fast the medical team got there and how quickly they managed to stop the bleeding - assuming they managed to. Also - across the wrists... not the smartest idea if you're looking to kill yourself. It's "down the road, not across the street" ;) Still some people actually get high off of cutting themselves - hence how accidental deaths can from from cutting your wrists |
