Default News - Metal Gear Solid 4 Reviewers Told Not to Mention Cut-Scene Lengths, Install Si

There are many things videogame critics must keep in mind when writing up their reviews for publication - whether in print or online. Things such as spoilers. Then there are the things which publishers ask reviewers to avoid. Sometimes these are within reason, other times they can get pretty outrageous.

For the past week, Stephen Totilo - the kick-arse reporter with MTV Multiplayer - has written articles discussing the relationships reviewers have with publishers. One of the more unique things he discovered, however, was what Konami has been asking out of the reviewers of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Reviewers have mentioned that in their reviews they not discuss two things: cut-scene length and the amount of space the install takes on the Playstation 3 hard drive. For the record, you can find the installation size on the back of the DVD case - 4.6 Gigabytes. And the longest cutscene comes in at 90 minutes. I certainly hope we're allowed to pause or save at certain points.

I wont be buying this game, if I want a movie I will buy a dvd, I don’t want to buy a game that I sit and watch. I don’t mind cut scenes but I’m someone who got bored with metal gear solid 2’s cut scenes.

As I say I think they forgot to add gameplay into metal gear solid 4, and telling reviewer not to mention aspects of a game is bull, a review in the very definition should cover the full product and product specs

Still has about 10 hours of gameplay or so from what I understand. But yeah, wish they woulda put more effort into adding more content into the game. Will be interesting to see how the cutscenes affect the game reviews.

For all we know it could be the ending cut scene. Won't know for a short bit yet though.

Not a lot of gamers have that patience. :P Let's hope the people at Konami are able to put a pause feature in there or at least a button to skip over it fully.
