A seven-year-old "bird-boy" can communicate only by "chirping" after his mother raised him in a virtual aviary in Russia. Care workers say the neglected child was found living in a tiny apartment surrounded by cages containing dozens of birds, bird feed and droppings. He does not understand any human language and communicates instead by chirping and flapping his arms, reports Pravda. Social worker Galina Volskaya, who was involved is rescuing the child from his home in Kirovsky, Volgograd, said he was treated like another pet by his 31-year-old mother who never spoke to him. Miss Volskaya said: "When you start talking to him, he chirps." Russian authorities say the child was not physically harmed but is suffering from "Mowgli syndrome", named after the Jungle Book character raised by wild animals, and cannot engage in any normal human communication. The boy's mother signed an abdication form to release the child into care after he was discovered last week. He is temporarily living in an asylum, but soon will be transferred to the centre of psychological care, according to reports. http://www.davesdaily.com/out.php?id=37695...3Dnews.quirkies |

I once watched a show in Discovery Health that talked about children that had been raised by dogs and now act like them. The largest portion of them had been children that were neglected by their parents and turned to the dogs. This show was in the Ukraine. |

This poor kid. The mom should be ashamed. I highly doubt it but still. I hope he grows up happy anyway.

That's just disturbing honestly I thought my faith in the human race was low enough that dropped it even more, seriously someone like that should never have children let alone a pet mean if your gonna ignore the child why bother?

There was a case similar to this in the US a long time ago: this poor girl was neglected by her parents and never spoken to: she got meals every day but was kept in a cage until she was eleven. She didn't really act much like an animal but she had no form of communication and no knowledge of the human way of life. *sigh* It's sad how often this actually happens.

Any parent that treats a child like that shouldn't just be put in the jail, they should be put *under* the jail! When I think of how many people out there who would love to have kids and can't (I had a friend who miscarried..and couldn't get pregnant). Then I see children abused and/or killed..It just burns me up!!! Sorry, abused kids is a hot-button topic for me. My friend, Penny, ended up with a divorce due to this. Her ex left her for someone that could give him *natural-born* kids. He refused to consider adopting or anything like that.

Wow... just wow. People like this don't deserve to even have children in the first place.

I agree they don't mean IMO it's a good thing child services stepped in cause someone that stupid should be put away, I don't care if she feels remorse for it that's just pathetic. Kids should be loved not neglected like last months left overs, pushed aside like a dog toy that's old and ratty. They have feelings not to mention needs, being loved is one of those needs honestly the women she'd be locked up with the key thrown into nearest river.
