AOL rant Ok, so now I'm really pissed off, I just got back home from Uni to find that my internet connection is very slow, so slow that it just times out all the time. I just figure its not been used much in the last three months so I give it a day. Another problem I have is that I can't access the sites I normally go on, always gives me a server not found even though I can get on them using a proxy, but I still cannot post. So again, I just think its my router been stupid so I decided to go fix it, but nothings changed and I find there are more sites I can't get on today. My connection is at its fastest 20KB/s when I should be getting 800KB/s download speeds like I used to. So I decided to go searching to find that a lot of web sites are been blocked by AOL under some crappy policy and that everyone has lost their download speeds thanks to some server change. Well I wasn't happy hearing this and AOL wont fix the problem, but then I read that the new server will only allow you to access the internet using their software which is completely unfair. Their software continuously needs to restart, losing what you are doing, meaning you wont be able to download and any posts on forums will take forever to do. Streaming files will also become impossible and accessing the internet though a game console will be impossible.
So, I pay for unlimited 8mb broadband and I get blocked off my favourite sites and get 20KB/s download speeds, doesn't seem unlimited to me.
Can only access the net through their software which is again something I didn't want and really isn't fair.
Their customer support is crap, I can't understand them and they have no idea what they're talking about, half the time you just get asked if you want to upgrade, how the hell can I be upgraded further when I pay so much for the bloody connection already.
I've decided I'm changing provider, I'm going to get sky boradband, will only cost me ?5 at the most a month because mom already has Sky and I don't care about their download limits since I'm never here to download anything. |
